Property Tax Schedule

Tax Bills

Taxes are mailed out every year on July 1st and December 1st.

Correspondingly, they are due every year on September 14th and February 14th (unless the date falls on a weekend or holiday, in which case they are due on the next business day).

If you do not receive a tax bill, please contact the treasurer at 231-723-7983 ext. 103. Please be advised that it is the responsibility of the taxpayer to pay their property taxes timely, whether a tax bill has been received or not. Failure to physically receive a bill does not excuse the obligation or due date.

Avoid Delays in Payment

Receipts

The Township will provide a mailed receipt to each property owner only if you send a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment or pay in person.

Postmarks

Please keep in mind postmarks are not accepted as a payment date.

Payment must be in our office before close of business on the due date of summer taxes to avoid any interest, and on the last day of February to avoid becoming delinquent.

Please allow extra time for delivery if paying by mail. For your convenience we have a dropbox in our parking lot if you choose to leave your payment during non-tax collection hours.

Escrow Accounts

If you currently escrow your tax payment, you are still receiving a tax bill as a curtesy only. Your mortgage company requests your tax bill information and pays the township directly.

Past Due Taxes

State law requires the Township collect current property taxes through February 28th or the last day of February, the year after they are due (i.e. until February 2020 for 2019 property taxes.) If taxes are still delinquent by then, the Township turns them over to the County Treasurer and can no longer accept payments toward past years.

All delinquent payments (paid after the last day of February) must be paid to the Manistee County Treasurer at 415 Third Street, Manistee, MI 49660. (231-723-3173)
